Welcome to the Library Learning Commons!

"You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book!" ~Dr. Seuss

The Sherman Library Learning Commons is a dynamic learning space used by teachers, students, and specialists daily. It is our hope that one feels welcomed, understood, cared for, and valued here. Whether you find yourself in Library Learning Time (LLT), selecting books, engaging in the research process, enjoying independent reading, learning new and exciting technology skills, volunteering, or getting involved in other Library activities, you will be sure to feel as though you are in a special place that promotes student learning, performance, and achievement in a variety of ways.

The Fairfield Public Schools, Library Media Department page describes our curriculum, the learning commons model, digital citizenship, and the inquiry model. Please click here for more information.

FPS Databases and Approved Applications

Classlink

A single sign on management tool. Log in once and access all our district’s online resources without having to log in to each one every time you use it or continually manage passwords. This is available to teachers and students. Elementary students typically begin use of Classlink in 2nd grade. This is a powerful tool that streamlines the use of technology into a manageable dashboard and point of access. A student and teacher's login is the same as their network login, as well as their Google login.

Google Suite for Education

A cloud based suite of tools (Google Docs, Sheets, Presentation, Sites, Forms, etc.) available online from any device, anytime. Also has Google Classroom,  a powerful collaborative and instructional tool for teachers and students. The district maintains a domain within G Suite for Education, and students in Grades 3-5 have accounts in the elementary school.

Office 365

Also a cloud based suite of tools, but aligned with MS Office. Teacher use and basic applications used at the elementary level.
